About Amy's Musikgarten

Amy Leishman began her musical studies at Utah State University studying Music Therapy. She completed her education at the University of Utah with a B.S. in psychology.  She was able to focus her love of early childhood at The Children's Center of Salt Lake, where she worked as a group facilitator, and play therapist in a day treatment program for toddlers with behavior disorders and developmental delays.  Amy has also studied at the University of Utah Piano Conservatory and taught private piano lessons for over 10 years.  She has been a certified Musikgarten instructor for 7 years.  She loves every moment she spends working with children.

Amy's Musikgarten believes that all children have musical aptitude and that  early childhood is the time to foster this potential in an active, joyful, and developmentally appropriate way.  She believes there is no better approach to teaching young children about the world around them then through music. This program is an ideal way to prepare a child for later instrumental study, to become a more perceptive listener and thinker, and to foster overall creative development.

Erin Feik graduated Utah State University with a degree in Music Education,  emphasis on wind and percussion instruments.  Her primary instrument is the clarinet. While at USU she certified Level I in the Orff
Schulwerk Level method which teaches young children music through speech, singing, listening, playing instruments and moving. She taught elementary music in the Phoenix public schools from 2001-2007.  She has 8 years experience teaching private lesson on clarinet, flute and saxophone. She loves working with children to create beautiful music and is excited to be working with the Musik Garten program.

About Musikgarten

Musikgarten's program recognizes that the first seven years of a child's life are most critical in the developmental process.  The curriculium provides children with a broad based musical experience incorporating singing, moving, listening, and play instruments.  Such "play" teaches active listening, develops balance, control, coordination, encourages social interaction, and stimulates the imagination.

Musikgarten's goal is to foster itellectual growth while laying the foundation or more formal music education as the child matures.  The benefits of the curriculum are incalcuable in the child's psychological, physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.

Amy's Musikgarten is locate in Kaysville, Utah

The Plan -  Musikgarten offers a comprehensive, sequential plan for the musical development of your child from birth to age 9.  Each level of Musikgarten, from the infant program to the introductory keyboard stands on its own and fits the developmental needs of the child.  Class time is educational, fun, and purposeful - a rarity in today's world which often confuses entertainment with education.

The Teachers - Your Musikgarten teachers are highly trained professionals with classroom and field experience in early childhood music education and child development.

The Curriculum - Musikgarten's programs are based on meeting the developmental needs of children as they grow. Favorite songs, stories, and dances are revisited throughout, and build on what each child has mastered and enjoyed - making successful learning easier.

Family Materials-Family materials enable parents to take the "sound environment" home.  As parents and children hear the familiar recordings, they will be motivated to make music more frequently at home.  Infusing your families daily life with music is the goal.  (please take care of your materials, so you can pass them on to younger siblings)
